Water
The single most important challenge facing Douglas County is the development of a sustainable water supply for all of our communities.
To me a sustainable water supply is one that incorporates conservation, re-use, renewable water and access to dependable drought resistant supplies.
We must work with water providers in a manner that promotes the early development of an infrastructure that allows them to access water supplies north, south east and west.
We must develop affordable funding mechanisms so rural users and water providers and the citizens they serve can obtain the needed water resources and infrastructure.
Finally, we must promote common sense regulations that promote sustainability without jeopardizing the financial viability of our businesses, land owners and water providers.. |
